What is a story in Tableau?

A story is an ordered sequence of sheets or dashboards, each step a story point with its own caption, used to walk an audience through a finding.

Each point captures the state it was created in — filters, sorting, selected marks — so the sequence replays consistently rather than needing to be set up live.

It differs from a dashboard in intent: a dashboard is for exploring several views at once, a story is for making an argument in order.

Stories publish to Server and remain navigable there, which makes them a genuine delivery format rather than only a presentation aid.
